Hazardous Packing
Taurus Packing (UK) Ltd (TPL) is a specialist organisation in the packing, Consultancy and full documentation service of all types of hazardous material according to global transportation regulations.
TPL was first registered in 1990 to provide specialist packing services to the export industries in gas and oil field operations where there were, and are, critical problems associated with moving explosives, corrosive and radioactive materials world wide. These shipments, often at very short notice, have been handicapped by conflicting interpretations of international regulations. These regulations can cause great difficulty, especially when more than one mode of transport is used. This triggered the creation of TPL to provide a specialised service for clients moving hazardous goods by all modes of transport.
TPL are regularly involved with all the major world airlines, shipping companies and other transportation companies in terms of our operational expertise. With full technical assistance, inspections, hazardous operational audits, the re- packing of goods in transit and issuing new shippers declarations we provide a most important service to the industry.
TPL have invested time, effort and considerable expense in developing a truly global expertise. Each individual country has its own historical rules: every mode of transports its separate rules and regulations. It takes experts to untie the many knots and interpretations, at TPL, we are trained to the highest level of expertise to achieve the safest and quickest results.
TPL are the perfect choice when it comes to transporting hazardous materials because that is what we do best.

Specialist Combination Transport
In recent times, the integration of ocean and rail carriage has become a standard of intermodal transportation. TPL have expanded this concept into certain trade corridors by the combination of ocean, air and land carriage. The regulatory bodies ICA/IATA versus IMO versus ADR verses RID have been streamlined by in house software, facilitating these sometimes-conflicting regulations.
Airfreight
The International Air Transport Association / United Nations International Civil Aviation Organisation (IATA/UN/ICAO) regulate the transportation of hazardous material by airfreight. The IATA regulations clearly state that “ the declaration from must not, in any circumstances, be completed and or signed by a consolidator forwarder, or a cargo agent”In association with other forwarding companies, we can offer a professional first class service to all major destinations.
Some hazardous goods, which, under normal conditions would be forbidden for carriage by air can be airfreighted under special exemptions issued by the Civil Aviation Authority.we have a great deal of experience in arranging these ensuringthat all specific conditions are met. These exemptions usually, but not always apply particularly to Class 1 explosive material. We have been involved with specialist charter flights, under exemption, to, literally, the Four Corners of the globe.
Ocean Freight
The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) regulations apply to the transport of hazardous material by ocean freight.
We have built up a comprehensive data bank toregular liner services that can and will accept hazardous cargo bookings.
The export success has become synonymous with the level of service available from their forwarder. We pride ourselves in the level of service we offer. Your requirements will be our first priority; therefore your success is our success.
Road Freight
The Accord European Relative Au Transport International Des Merchandises Pangerueses par Route (ADR), a European agreement, regulates the international road transport of hazardous materials.
However, the ADR regulations deviate sometimes significantly from the air and sea regulations. This can and does, cause problems on air or ocean cargo that is shuffled between air and seaports and even between UK airports.
We also offer a full range of documentation services such as, classification. ADR transport documents, CELIAC Tremcards, and advise on segregation to road hauliers, shippers and airlines.
UN Packaging Safety is the key when transporting hazardous substances by any mode of transportation. Since January 1st 1991,except in certain circumstances, dangerous goods can only be carried in United Nations certified packaging, which have passed the required performance tests.
